
The state-level winners of Lokmat MahaGames, Maharashtra’s largest inter-school multi-sport tournament, were honoured at a prestigious award ceremony held at The Ritz-Carlton, Pune. Padma Bhushan awardee and Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal, Brand Ambassador of Lokmat MahaGames, presented medals and accolades to exceptional student athletes, recognising their dedication, discipline, and sporting excellence.
Organised by Lokmat Campus Club and supported by the Abhay Bhutada Foundation, Lokmat MahaGames is a flagship initiative designed to identify and nurture grassroots sporting talent while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship among school students. The tournament was conducted across 12 regions of Maharashtra, culminating in a highly competitive state-level championship.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Vijay Darda, Chairman, Lokmat Media Group; Ruchira Darda, Director, Lokmat Campus Club and Founder of MahaGames; and Trupti Abhay Bhutada, Co-Founder, Abhay Bhutada Foundation. The event was hosted by RJ Mantra, who also moderated an interactive discussion with the dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Vijay Darda highlighted Lokmat’s long-standing commitment to sports development, emphasising the need to nurture young talent with discipline and focus, free from external influences.
Over 50,000 students from more than 2,500 schools participated in 12 sports disciplines, making Lokmat MahaGames one of the most inclusive school-level sporting platforms in the state.
