In a shocking case of blackmail and extortion, Bengaluru police have arrested a pre-school principal, Sridevi Rudagi, along with two accomplices for allegedly extorting ₹4 lakh from a student’s father and later demanding an additional ₹20 lakh. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
The Alleged Affair and Blackmail Begins
According to the police, the victim, Satish (name changed), is a trader living in a western Bengaluru neighborhood with his wife and three daughters. In 2023, he enrolled his youngest child, a five-year-old, in the school where Rudagi worked as the principal.
Their initial interactions began during the admission process and soon turned personal. Rudagi allegedly kept in touch with Satish through private messages and video calls on a separate phone and SIM card. Their relationship escalated, eventually leading to in-person meetings.

Extortion Demands Escalate
Rudagi reportedly extorted ₹4 lakh from Satish during the course of their relationship. However, in January, she demanded an additional ₹15 lakh.
As Satish struggled with business losses, he decided to relocate his family to Gujarat and required a Transfer Certificate (TC) for his child. When he visited the school in early March to collect the document, the situation took a disturbing turn.
A Trap in the Principal’s Office
Upon reaching the school, Satish was called into Rudagi’s office, where two men—Ganesh Kale, 38, and Sagar, 28—were also present. The duo showed him private photos and videos of his encounters with Rudagi and threatened to send them to his family if he did not pay ₹20 lakh.
Satish attempted to negotiate, managing to bring the demand down to ₹15 lakh, with an initial transfer of ₹1.9 lakh. However, the blackmail continued.
A Desperate Call for Help
On March 17, Rudagi called Satish, demanding payments be made to various individuals:
- ₹5 lakh for a former police officer
- ₹1 lakh each for Kale and Sagar
- ₹8 lakh for herself
Feeling trapped, Satish reached out to the police. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) quickly investigated the claims and found that the supposed police officer had no connection to the case.
Arrests and Legal Action
Following the investigation, Bengaluru police arrested Rudagi, Kale, and Sagar. The trio has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days as further inquiries continue.
This case highlights the dangers of personal relationships being exploited for financial gain. The Bengaluru police acted swiftly, ensuring that justice was served. Authorities urge people to be cautious in personal dealings and report any blackmail attempts immediately.
