Gujarat Hospital CCTV Footage Leak Sparks Investigation
In a shocking breach of privacy, multiple videos from the CCTV system of Rajkot’s Payal Maternity Home—showing nursing staff administering injections to women patients—have surfaced on YouTube and Telegram, triggering widespread outrage. The leaked clips have raised serious concerns over the security and privacy of women in medical institutions, which are generally regarded as safe spaces.
The disturbing incident came to the attention of the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police, prompting an immediate investigation. The hospital’s director, Dr. Amit Akbari, claimed their CCTV server had been hacked, but the motive behind the leak remains unclear.
“I don’t know how the hospital videos went viral. Our CCTV server seems to have been hacked. However, we are unaware of why this happened. We will inform the police and fully cooperate in the investigation,” Dr. Akbari stated.
Meanwhile, Rajkot Cyber Crime Police has launched a probe, questioning the entire hospital staff, including doctors. Authorities are examining the content of the leaked videos and tracking down those responsible for capturing and distributing them.
“We are investigating who accessed these videos and their intent. A case has been registered under Sections 66E and 67 of the IT Act,” a police spokesperson confirmed.
The incident has reignited concerns over the security of surveillance systems in public and private institutions, emphasizing the urgent need for stringent cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive data.
